PC2-5300 DDR2-667 256MB RAM Ordenador

Get Better Performance from your PC with more Memory

You can improve the speed of your desktop PC quite dramatically by adding more memory such as the PC2-5300 256 MB 667 DDR2 667 MHz RAM. Random access memory, or RAM, lets you store and retrieve information on your computer or laptop. Because this information can be accessed randomly and not sequentially like it is on a CD or hard drive, your PC can access the information much faster. One of the easiest ways to increase the performance of your laptop or PC is to add more memory to the system.

What types of memory are there?

Memory modules can be divided into two main groups; volatile and non-volatile memory. Volatile modules lose their content the moment that power is removed from them whilst non-volatile modules keep their content, even when they lose power. Examples of these are the following:

  • DRAM and SRAM. Dynamic RAM or DRAM and static RAM or SRAM are the working storage in every PC. DRAM is the main memory and SRAM is used for high-speed cashes and buffers. They are both examples of volatile memory.
  • EEPROM and F-RAM. These RAM chips have the byte address ability of DRAM and SRAM, but do not lose their content when the power is turned off.
  • Flash Memory. This is the most widely used RAM chip in both computers and other electronic devices.
  • EPROM. These chips are initially written in an external programmer device and must be removed from the motherboard and placed back in the device to be reprogrammed.
  • ROM and PROM. Data and instructions in ROM and PROM chips can never be changed. ROMs are manufactured and PROMs are programmed in an external device similar to EPROMs.

What DDR2 667 MHz PC2-5300 memory can I buy?

Memory chips are available in different sizes, for instance 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and sometimes larger. Modules are also available from different manufacturers. The following are just some of the DDR2 667 MHz PC2-5300 256 MB ram chips that you can buy:

  • Kingston KVR667D2N5/256. This desktop chip is a 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Non-ECC CL5 DIMM module.
  • Hynix HYMP532S64BP6-Y5. A 667 MHz module, it has a DDR2 SODIMM 200-pin form factor and is not ECC.
  • Global Memory PC2-5300 (DDR2-667). The 256 MB DDR2 SDRAM laptop chip has a SODIMM DDR2 form factor.
  • Samsung M378T3354EZ3-CE6. This is a CL5 DDR2 desktop chip with a DIMM 240-pin form factor.
