What features are important for replacement mirrors for Nissan cars?

The mounting bracket and mounting button are standard across all Nissan models. In newer Nissan cars, especially, the rearview mirror is a control hub for many convenient functions that you likely use on a daily basis.

Utilizing HomeLink, your rearview mirror can become your garage door opener, eliminating the need for a separate control unit. With proper calibration, your mirror always informs you which direction youre headed. Plus, with the auto-dimming feature, mirrors protect you from glare while driving at night. With all these important features, its easy to see that the proper selection of your rearview mirror can enhance the continued enjoyment of your car.

What types of replacement mirrors are available for Nissan cars?

As with many vehicle replacement parts, when you select a new mirror for your car, you have the choice between a new aftermarket model, or an OEM, or Original Equipment Manufacturer model. Given the complex features embedded in a Nissan rearview mirror, selecting an OEM model from a donor car that matches your own gives you the best chance of keeping all that functionality intact when you install the new mirror. If you purchase a new aftermarket model, just ensure that it matches the year, make, and model of the Nissan vehicle you need it for. You also want to ensure that it offers all the features of your previous mirror so that you dont experience any difficulties in installation or loss of functionality in your car.

How do you install a Nissan rearview mirror?

If you simply need to replace your Nissan mirror for your interior, and the mounting button is still attached to the windshield, all you need to do is loosen the screw holding the mirror in place, unplug the electrical connection, and slide the mirror up and off the button. To install a new mirror, simply reverse the process. If you need to re-install your mounting button as well, the steps are listed below.

  • First, remove any of the old adhesive from the button, then sand it to give the adhesive a surface to adhere to.
  • Second, clean any dust off the button and sterilize it with rubbing alcohol.
  • Third, apply the adhesive to the button. Then, place it on the windshield and hold it in place for the necessary amount of time.
  • Finally, allow the adhesive to set for at least 24 hours before re-attaching the mirror.
