Make sure that the emergency brake is on and the car is placed in neutral. Unscrew the old gear shift knob. It will be connected either via a thread in the knob or a screw connecting the knob to the gear shift. If it is a screw, use an Allen wrench to remove the screw and the knob can be pulled off. Install the new knob in the same fashion that you detached the old one, either via screw or threading.
