Honda has released many VT1100 cruisers under its Shadow line. The first VT1000C came out in 1985 with a look that closely resembles the Harley-Davidson FXDWG Wide Glide. In 1987, Honda introduced certain design changes to the VT1000C including a lower seat, a longer wheelbase, a bigger fuel tank, and a longer front fork. As the VT1000C struggled in the American market, Honda introduced a few market-specific changes including a Honda Shadow 1100 seat in the 1992 model bearing a "Made in the USA". Three years later, more U.S.-centric changes arrived in the form of the Shadow ACE or American Classic Edition that sounded very much like a Harley. The Shadow ACE packs a single-pin crank engine that slightly differs from the original 1099cc, liquid-cooled, SOHC V-twin Honda Shadow 1100 engine.
