The Honda Odyssey Engine Builds
The Honda Odyssey engine has been in production since 1994 when the model was first introduced. The Japanese import was built as a larger, more spacious version of the Honda Accord. Find an affordable engine for your Honda Odyssey on eBay.
Where did Honda's big-block inline-4 engine originate? The Honda F-Series engine was the original powertrain used in the Honda Odyssey. Known as Honda's big-block inline-4, it was borrowed from the dependable Honda Accord. The same Accord engine that built the Odyssey was also used in other vehicles. As a versatile engine, it is available for purchase in new or used condition on eBay.
The F22B6 for sale is a 2.2-liter inline-4, and the F23A7 is a 2.3-liter inline-4. Both are four-speed automatic and were installed in the Odyssey until 1998. So, if you have a 2006 Honda Odyssey engine, it will not be compatible with an F-Series engine.
The Honda Odyssey J-Series engine (second generation)Honda has used the J-Series engine since the 1999 model. From 1999 to 2001 this version has been in production. The J-Series is a V6 instead of an inline-4. It's designed for transverse mounting.
The J-Series engines from the second generation of Odysseys are:
- J35A1 3.5-liter 211.8 cu. in. 210 HP 229 lb. ft. torque (1999 to 2001)
- J35A4 3.5-liter 240 HP 242 lb. ft. torque (2002 to 2004)
However, if you have a 2006 Honda Odyssey engine or a 2007 Honda Odyssey engine in new or used condition, it will be equipped with the third generation of the J-Series engine. The same is true with a 2008 Honda Odyssey engine for sale. This engine was used from 2005 to 2010. If you need a replacement for a 2005 Honda Odyssey engine, it will be one of these. Look for a replacement on eBay.
The J-Series from the third generation of the Honda Odyssey engine for sale are:
- J35A6 V6 3.5-liter 211.8 cu. in. 255 HP 250 torque (2005 to 2007)
- J35A7 V6 3.5-liter 211.8 cu. in. (2005 to 2010)
Odysseys built between 2011 and 2017 will have another iteration of the J-Series engine. The J-Series became the engine of choice for Honda, and they are similar.
The J35Z8 was the only engine used for the fourth-generation builds.
- J35Z8 V6 3.5-liter 211.8 cu. in. 244 HP 250 lb. ft. torque (2011 to 2017)
The most recent iteration of the Honda Odyssey engine is a J-Series. The fifth generation of the Honda Odyssey minivan has been in production since 2017. There has been only one engine used for this generation of Odysseys.
- J35Y6 VCM V6 3.5-liter 211.8 cu. in. 280 HP 262 lb. ft. torque (2017 to present)
